Book Review: Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls

Hello and welcome to the Girls Succeed blog! I love introducing girls to trailblazing women from the past and the present via this blog. (Hopefully, these amazing women will inspire girls who read this blog to be the future trailblazers and leaders!)

Recently I found a wonderful book for young girls packed with cleverly written one-page stories about 100 women who made a difference in the world. Yes, I say world because the book, with amazing color portraits, includes women from all over the world.

So many amazing women in diverse careers and different eras are featured--an empress, queen, politician,  supermodel, trombonist, suffragette. The whole spectrum of talented, wise, and passionate women.

I like what Taylor Pittman from the Huffington Post wrote about the book--"These bedtime stories trade princesses for women who changed the world."

The mission of the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls book is similar to my purpose for writing Girls Succeed! Stories Behind the Careers of Succesful Women for middle-grade girls. When they read about heroes, mentors, leaders, they are inspired to be "just like" them. Learning about someone who can overcome obstacles empowers girls to accomplish their goals by following their hero's example.

Website for Girls' Books: A Mighty Girl

Hello, Readers,

I hope you're having a fun summer. As you can tell from my absence on this blog, I'm having a "busy" summer taking online writing workshops, grandparenting my grandkids, camping, and trying to finish my latest manuscript. My goal was to have the first draft done by the end of May. Hmm, it's nearly the end of July, and I have about three chapters to go! 

I've also been reading books because I love to read whether it is summer or winter. It's a pleasure to read no matter what time of year (or day) it is. 

If you like to read, I have discovered a treasure trove of books for girls all in one spot, A Mighty Girl, "books for smart, confident, and courageous girls" like you!

As you probably already know, I'm fond of featuring trailblazers and role models on this website, so when I saw a category for girls about role models, I decided to explore A Mighty Girl. I was thrilled to discover so many books for girls, so many categories, and the excellent way of breaking down each category into smaller niches. For example I clicked on Books>Mighty Girls and Women>role models> and discovered the role models classified into many fields/careers such as athletes, entrepreneurs, heroes, writers and poets and many more. So much fun to see all the titles for each designation.
