Be Yourself! by J.Q. Rose

Are you familiar with the song, “Little Boxes” written in 1963 by Melvina Reynolds?
~Listen to the song performed by two talented young ladies, the Wayukes, on Youtube.
VIDEO:
"Little Boxes" performed by the Wayukes
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There’s a pink one and a green one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they’re all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.
Listeners to the catchy tune and lyrics have several ideas for its meaning. One of them is the protest against all the cheap housing of suburbia which sprang up in the 60’s. People called the sub-divisions a cookie-cutter method of building homes with ticky tacky or shoddy materials.
Be Yourself. Everyone else is taken.
~~Oscar Wilde
The message I receive from the lyrics is the complaint of everyone trying to be the same and not stand out, but conforming to what someone else thinks they should be. Pre-teens and teens especially want to “fit in.” A person is embarrassed or humiliated for being different. Wearing the wrong clothes, having big ears, not speaking clearly can all be reasons for a bully or uncaring person to criticize and make fun. Sad to say the teasing happens all the time, and it is hurtful.

Girls Succeed!
Inspiring girls to achieve success
in their dream careers
In my non-fiction ebook for girls, Girls Succeed: Stories Behind the Careers of Successful Women, the family of a woman I interviewed moved so many times when she was a child, she couldn’t make friends. She was always the odd one in a group. Because she didn’t want to stand out, she tried to hide how smart she was and was not proud of it. Finally her last few years in high school, she joined the band and sports teams and made friends. She blossomed into the person she really was. She is now a medical doctor and researcher at a university.
We forget to appreciate all the wonderful qualities each of us has. Instead of grumbling about what you don’t have, list the positive things in your personality. Every person is special with gifts and talents inside us just waiting to be developed during our life journey.

Careers Today by J.Q. Rose

Careers Today by J.Q. Rose

Women are entering professions never imagined when I was graduating from high school. With the advances in computers and technology, so many different jobs are opening. Have you talked with a college student lately about his or her major? What an amazing choice of degrees to earn these days. Majors are in recreation, hospitality, business leadership, marketing, all those computer technology majors, and even how to engineer packaging for products.

With so many choices available, I want to encourage girls to dream big for the career they want to pursue and follow the dream by working hard to make it a reality.

Girls Succeed!
Available at Amazon and all major online booksellers
The stories in the Girls Succeed! are about careers, but also the path the women followed to make their dream profession come true.

This is non-fiction book and was written as a reference for gathering information and inspiration about different occupations. If a career catches a reader’s eye, then I hope she will read about it. At the end of each chapter, there are live links to the subject’s websites, videos, books, and articles which will enhance and update the information provided.

It was a privilege to interview these remarkable women. I felt very special to have them trust me to tell their stories. Now I look forward to getting the ebook out to readers and hope to inspire them to follow their dreams.

The Table of Contents lists all the women and their careers. How about you? Do you dream of success in a dream career? What are your plans for your future? Go for it!

Merry Christmas!!

Love came down at Christmas

Our Greatest Need

If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness and acceptance, so God sent us a Savior.

Wishing you all the hope, peace, love, and joy of this Christmas season!

Merry Christmas!

Five Star Book Review for Girls Succeed

Inspiring and empowering girls to achieve the careers of their dreams.

Really excited to receive such a glowing review of Girls Succeed. I especially smile when I read " highly recommended." Take a peek.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read, Learn, Be Inspired and Go for It! July 8, 2013
By Sarah M
Format:Kindle Edition

One of the most oft repeated advice of personal coaches, and I believe it to be excellent advice, is for one to surround oneself with individuals who radiate positive energy and a can do attitude; the kind of people who attain their sought after goals and who by doing so encourage and inspire others to pursue their passions and their dreams. In "Girls Succeed: Stories Behind the Careers of Successful Women", J. Q. Rose facilitates an introduction to fifteen incredible women whose stories and achievements in a myriad of fields that include horse training, medicine, writing, athleticism, entrepreneurship, to name a few, are inspirational and motivating. If you are a young girl (or not so young) dreaming about a career in field you are passionate about and if you seek to infuse your life with an optimistic proactive vitality, add the ladies of J.Q. Rose's book to your circle of friends. A highly recommended well worth investment for girls and women of any age.

By Sue Pernz "SueP" (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Girls Succeed: Stories Behind the Careers of Successful Women (Kindle Edition)

This book is well written and very informative. If you have a dream you don't think you'll be able to attain I suggest you have a look at this book. It will certainly give you inspiration for your own goals.

The women in this book have all achieved their dreams and are to be applauded for their efforts. All worked hard to get to the level they desired, but some had to work harder than others when life put obstacles in their way. They're not all high flying professional women, their goals range from chef, to minister, to scientist to gold medallist. Do you have dreams? Get inspiration to achieve them from this book.
